Spawn Youth Compound Bow

New Breed's first youth bow.

We wanted to share the passion and spark that seemed to have started it all with today’s youth. So here at New Breed we are proud to introduce our first youth bow - the New Breed Spawn!

From New Breed’s President, Kyle Null:
I can remember it like yesterday... when I was running around bugging my father to let me play with the old recurve he had hanging on the living room wall just above his reading chair. Day after day he told me the same thing “Son that is not a bow made for you!”. At the time I was 7 years old and can remember actually getting in trouble for trying to climb up on the chair and get the bow down. I bet I asked him every day for what seemed like an eternity about shooting a bow. Then one morning I had finally hit his last nerve about the bow, he said “son for the last time that bow is not made for you, but if you really feel that strongly about shooting a bow then today is your lucky day” he smiled as he got up from his chair and walked out to his work room(which I should add was a place I was not old enough for either). I was close on his heels as I had seen that smile before and I knew it had to be something good, just about the time I rounded the corner headed into the work room door he was standing there with what appeared to be a 3 to 4 foot yellowish brown looking stick with a green piece of leather wrapped in the middle of it and in his other hand he had a white piece of string. I said what’s that and he replied “Son this bow is made for you!” We walked out on to the back porch and he strung the handmade long bow and began giving me instructions on how to hold it,where to place the my fingers on the string, draw it, aim it, and shoot it. At the time I had no idea that my Dad had actually made the bow for me out of osage orange wood and the green handle was a piece of his old worn out leather hunting boots, and the arrows he had for me were wooden dowels from the hardware store that he fletched and capped off with a already fired .357 magnum shell casing so that the tips would be blount and not hurt much if I missed the target.

I probably stalked every living thing on the farm that year, and probably lost dozens of arrows but I can tell you, getting that bow was the spark that started the passion that I have in my heart today for archery!

We here at New Breed know times have changed and the bows that are hanging in most homes today are compound bows, but if we had to guess there are still young ones asking their parents if they can shoot that bow. We only felt it was right to create a hand-crafted, high-quality compound bow worthy for any parent to offer to their child... and hope that will create the spark that fuels the passion for generations to come, preserving the sport of archery and the outdoor lifestyle.
